Where should I begin? I started stamping and card making at the beginning of this year when I got the idea from an Etsy gathering to make birthday cards for the Survivors at our Relay For Life event. (The folks from Etsy were making birthday cards to give to their local Hope Lodge, a service from the American Cancer Society.)
So I made 70 birthday cards. Then I decided our Team Captains needed cards so I made 25 of those. THEN.... I thought that handmade cards would be a good fundraiser for Relay and now here we are.
While browsing on Joann's website I came across some very cute stamps featuring mice doing cute and sometimes naughty little things as mice are apt to do. I soon learned it was the House Mouse collection of stamps. At that time I could only view them online.
In April we went away for a few days for my birthday and I found an independent stamp shop which sold these little gems! Paws on Main in Cambria, CA is a great little stamp shop, and Karen is the best. I promptly bought 3 stamps from her and placed an order for 4 Halloween stamps.
This was the first stamp to catch my eye, due to his shoes and the whole relation to Relay. Of course, I always make his shoes purple.
**None of my photos came out, after two attempts so all images of the House Mouse stamps are courtesy of the House Mouse website.
I also bought three birthday stamps - continuing my theme.
Now here I must admit I am feeling some guilt over my Christmas stamps. I wanted to make sure I had them in time to make and sell cards at a holiday fair next month, plus they were on sale and I had a free shipping coupon, so..... I ordered them from Joann's. Don't get me wrong, I love Joann's, but I'd rather support shops like Paws on Main when I can. Next time Karen!
Here is a preview of my Christmas stamps.
I've been working on a few other little things for the holiday fair next month like fabric bows and felt tissue holders. More on those to come.
In other bird shop news, Cleo expressed some interest in becoming my apprentice but then proceeded to destroy some felt so I put that off. Loki, my assistant, needs to go to the vet for some allergies he's been having. Poor boy. I'm sure Dr. Hallada will make him all better.
Cheers,
this little bird
