Spooky Scenes and Birthday Plans

Something pretty sweet happened today.  A seller on Etsy featured my pumpkins on her blog and sent me a little note.  It totally made my day (and can I mention she's in England!).  Cris from Koalita Craft and Me did up this amazing collection of pumpkins in honor of her little pumpkin's birthday!!!  Check out her full blog post here.

The cuteness is almost overwhelming and the fact that Cris has a koala in her logo makes it an instant favorite.

Speaking of birthdays.... I don't believe it but a week from today This Little Bird will turn 1!!!  I can't believe it's been an entire year almost.  Leaving aside reflections of how this means I'm a year older too, I am so thankful for all that this year long journey has brought me.  I've met amazing friends on Etsy, in the blog world, fabulous customers and more.  How one girl could be so lucky I don't know!

I'm thinking of having a sale, yes a SALE in honor of the big day.  I will suss it out over the weekend and let you all know what I'm up to on Monday.

For now, I hope you are enjoying fall.  Cheers,
this little bird

It all started with a pumpkin...

All crazy endeavors start somewhere... Mine started with Pinterest and a pumpkin.  I saw a tutorial for a fabric pumpkin and before you know it.....

This..

Pumpkin Patch

And this...

Fall Pumpkins

and finally, this....

More Fall Pumpkins

Yes,  pumpkins have exploded all over our home.  I followed the tutorial but soon made some changes to make it mine.  I spent a lot of hours with yarn and embroidery floss and while I'm proud of my work, I'm also glad they are finished. The plan is to sell them at a Relay For Life fundraiser next weekend with two purposes in mind.  First, I want to donate my proceeds to my local Relay For Life.  Second, it will be a nice way to see if they will be well received by buyers and test out pricing.  I'll also be selling some hand stamped Halloween cards that I'm working on today.  I'm excited and nervous all at the same time because this will be the first time that this little bird will be out in public!

Stay tuned for progress on the shop and images of my Halloween cards.

Update: 10/10/11 - I added the link to the tutorial where I found this at the top.  I made some changes to it to get what you see above.  Enjoy.

Cheers,
this little bird
